Not All Masks Are Created Equal
Understanding the difference between industrial, reusable and escape hoods.

FIRE ESCAPE HOODS vs INDUSTRIAL MASKS
1. The Industrial/ re-usable Masks
Designed For: Routine Work (Painting, Construction, Chemical Handling).
The Mechanism: Filtration. It physically blocks particles or chemically absorbs specific gases (like ammonia or acid).
Why it FAILS in a High-Rise Fire:
NO Carbon Monoxide Protection: Standard industrial filters (ABEK or P3) do not stop Carbon Monoxide (CO).
CO molecules are too small and pass right through. You might not smell smoke, but you will fall unconscious from CO poisoning.
NO Eye Protection: Smoke is acidic. It stings the eyes, forcing them closed. If you are wearing a half-mask, you are breathing fine, but you are blind. You cannot see the exit.
The "Perfect Seal" Problem: These masks require a perfect airtight seal against the skin. If the user has a beard, stubble, or panic-induced sweat, the seal breaks. Toxic smoke leaks in immediately.
2. THE ESCAPE HOOD (Sure On Safety)
Designed For: Survival Egress (Building Fire, Chemical Spill, Terror Event)
The Mechanism: Conversion & Isolation.
Why it SURVIVES:
CO Conversion (Hopcalite): It doesn't just filter; it uses a chemical catalyst to convert lethal Carbon Monoxide into breathable Carbon Dioxide. This is the only way to survive a sealed fire environment.
Full Cranial Protection: It covers the entire head. The heat-resistant visor protects the eyes from smoke and thermal radiation, ensuring 100% visibility.
Universal Neck Seal: It seals around the neck, not the face. This means it works perfectly over beards, long hair, and glasses. No fit-testing required. Just pull and go.
THE BOTTOM LINE
"An industrial mask is designed to help you work. An Escape hood is engineered to help you survive.
In a fire, the enemy is not just smoke — it is Carbon Monoxide, blindness, and panic. An industrial half-mask leaves your eyes exposed and your lungs vulnerable to CO. The Escape Hood provides a complete seal, total vision, and chemically converted oxygen.
Don't bring a construction tool to a survival situation."
